Children

Safety

Children are a gift from God (Ps. 127:3). We know the care for your child is important…and rightly so. We strive to have clean, well-run nurseries and classes for your children. Also, we require that every adult worker at Lexington Baptist Church go through a background check. We trust that our care for your children will put you at ease and also that we will be able to reinforce what is taught at home.

Children’s Church

Lexington Baptist Church has something for all ages during our Sunday school hour. From nursery to classes for little ones from two years old to 6th grade, we have a class with a faithful teacher and godly, age-appropriate lessons.

During the morning service, we also offer a children’s church. Those in the nursery or our younger classes (ages  2-4) will stay in a class geared for them during the entire morning service. Children in K-5 to 3rd grade, start in the morning worship to sing with their family and then will be dismissed to their class during the service.

Of course, parents are always welcome to keep their children with them during the morning service. We encourage our parents to make the choice that is best for their child’s spiritual growth. Regardless if your children stay in the morning service or if they attend children’s church, rest assured that the Word of God will be taught.

Awana Club

Dear Parents/Guardian,

I want to welcome you and your child to our Awana clubs.  You will find that Awana provides the context for your child to make new friends, play exciting games, compete in rewarding and challenging contests, receive awards as reinforcement for his or her hard work, and most importantly, learn and memorize God’s Word, the Bible.

This booklet will provide you with the basic information that you need to know about how Awana operates. The Awana leaders at Lexington Baptist Church are composed of volunteer workers who care very much about the spiritual and social development of each child.

All of our children and youth workers have been trained in Child Protection policies and have gone through a strict application process and background checks.  We want you and your children to feel safe.

Our volunteer leaders are trained by the Awana organization and are knowledgeable in the workings of the Awana ministry. Your assistance in helping your child memorize his or her sections will be greatly appreciated and will prove to be a special time for both you and your child.

The Awana ministry consists of six clubs

  • Puggles – 2 – 3 years old
  • Cubbies – Preschoolers ages 3through 4 years old
  • Sparks – Kindergarten through 2nd grade
  • Truth &Training clubs – 3rd through 6th grade
  • Trek-  7th and 8th  grades
  • Journey – 9th through 12th grade

We pray this program is a great blessing to you and your family.  Thank you for allowing your child to attend our Awana clubs.

Because of Christ’s love,

Jason Hattersley
